The annual Macao International Fireworks Display Contest not only illuminates the night sky of Macau, but also touches the feelings of people's hearts. It usually takes place on several Saturdays every September and October and on China’s National Day on 1st October. The iconic fireworks display adds a joyous atmosphere to holidays and festivals, and have become an annual must-see in Macao, with many spectators specially choosing this time of the year to visit for an exotic and romantic break.

The Macao International Fireworks Display Contest is an internationally acclaimed event, acknowledged as one of the best of its kind. Over the years, more than 100 outstanding teams from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, Chinese Taiwan, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Poland, Croatia, Finland, the United States, Canada and South Africa have participated in this pyrotechnic wizardry.

Drone Shows

Centered on the core theme "Set Sail for Macao, where the Silk Road sparkles", the 34th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest introduces drone performances for the first time. Interwoven seamlessly with the fireworks, the narrative-driven drones create a story-led audiovisual experience. The entire showcase is divided into three chapters: "Encounter with History", "Encounter with Civilization", and "Encounter with the Future". "Encounter with History" and "Encounter with the Future" feature combined drone formations and fireworks displays, while "Encounter with Civilization" is a standalone fireworks show without drones. The first drone performance serves as the opening show, while the second acts as the grand finale.
